It was a busy March for the ASV Table Tennis Academy squad, with the Scottish National Championships taking place over the weekend of 21/22 March at Largs, and only the weekend previous on Sunday 15 March in Bathgate was the Scottish Senior Schools Championships.
The Academy players had a successful couple of weekends, with the TT Academy ending with 3 Scottish Champions and 2 Scottish Schools Champions, as well as a number of Silver medals and 9 players gaining qualification for the Scottish Schools National team!
Kiishi Adekola (Robert Gordons College) had a very successful couple of events, and is now a double Scottish Champion in the U19 Girls Singles & Doubles, as well as taking the U14 Scottish Schools Champion a week earlier.
Kiishi also took a Silver in the Scottish U15 Girls Singles, and a Silver in the Scottish Ladies Doubles with club partner Maja Wojcicka (Turriff Academy). The doubles silver is quite remarkable in a senior event given the girls are still 14 & 16 years respectively.
Maja lost out to Kiishi in the Scottish Girls U19 Final, taking the Silver, as well as taking Gold along with Kiishi in the Doubles. Maja also took a Silver in the U18 Scottish Schools Championships a week earlier.
Dean Robertson (Aberdeen Grammar) took the U14 title in the Scottish Schools Championships, and followed that with a Silver in the U15 boys Scottish Championships.
Inniyan Jayaraj (Forehill Primary) is now the Scottish U13 boys Champion, and also took 4th place in the Scottish Schools U14 boys event.
Jakub Krzyzostaniak (St Machar Academy) took a Silver in the U19 Boys Doubles Scottish Championships with former clubmate Daniel Tibbetts, as well as another Silver in the U18 Boys Scottish Schools champs.
The Scottish Senior Schools Championships also acts as a qualifier for the Scottish National team for the British Schools Championships, taking place in Wales in June, and requires a top 4 finish to qualify. In total ASV TT Academy had 9 players qualify for the National team, as well as those players above that also includes:
- Robbie Martin (Bucksburn Academy) U18 boys team
- Victor Chen (Robert Gordons College) U16 boys team
- Matthew Pszonka (Bridge of Don Academy) U16 boys team
- Nikki Mo (St Machar Academy) U14 girls team
