The Home Countries International Table Tennis Championships is one of the key events on the international calendar for players representing Scotland, bringing together the strongest young and senior talent from across the Home Countries and Crown Dependencies.

The competition provides players with the opportunity to represent their association, gain valuable international experience, and compete against some of the best players from neighbouring nations in a friendly but highly competitive environment.

The Home Countries International in its current format was introduced in 2023, bringing together two long-standing competitions that were previously held separately:

• The Senior Six Nations
• The Junior & Cadet Six Nations

By combining these events, the competition created a single annual international weekend featuring players across senior, junior and cadet age groups.

Seven associations compete in the Home Countries International:

• Scotland
• Wales
• Ireland
• Guernsey
• Jersey
• Isle of Man

Although commonly referred to as a Home Countries event, the competition includes both the traditional Home Nations and the Crown Dependencies, creating a unique international tournament with a strong sense of community and sporting rivalry.

The Championships are normally held over a three-day weekend, usually in November. The weekend combines team and individual competitions:

The programme also includes individual competitions, with players competing for honours in singles and doubles events across the different age groups.

The 2026 Championships will be held in Jersey, continuing the tradition of different associations hosting the event each year.

The Home Countries International has quickly established itself as an important competition for developing players. For senior players, it remains an opportunity to represent Scotland and compete in a high-quality international environment.

Representing Scotland at the Home Countries International is a significant achievement. Players are selected based on their performances throughout the season, with the event providing a valuable opportunity to compete against England, Wales, Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

For many Scottish players, the competition represents one of their first experiences of wearing the national colours and competing as part of a Scotland team.

While the standard of table tennis is high, the Home Countries International is also built around the relationships between the participating associations. Players, coaches, officials and volunteers from seven different nations and territories come together each year, creating a welcoming atmosphere alongside the competitive action.

The event celebrates the shared history of table tennis across the Home Countries while providing the next generation of players with the experience and confidence needed to progress further in the sport.

For Scottish players, selection for the Home Countries International is both an honour and an opportunity: to represent their country, test themselves internationally, and become part of Scotland’s continuing table tennis story.

Scotland enjoyed one of its strongest ever performances at the 2025 Home Countries International in Dublin, Ireland, returning home with an impressive 16 medals across team, singles and doubles competitions.

The success began in the team events, where Colin Dalgleish and Martin Johnson claimed gold in the Men’s Team competition. Scotland also secured silver medals in the Cadet Boys, Cadet Girls and Junior Boys Team events, highlighting the strength and depth of the national pathway.

The individual events brought further success, with Scottish players collecting five gold medals. Kiishi Adekola won the Cadet Girls Singles title and, alongside Alexandra Hart, also claimed gold in the Cadet Girls Doubles. Joe Mulhern became Cadet Boys Singles champion, while Gavin Yuan won the Junior Boys Singles title and, together with Daniel Tibbetts, added gold in the Junior Boys Doubles.

The outstanding results demonstrated the continued progress of Scottish table tennis, with players from junior to senior level competing successfully against strong opposition from across the Home Countries.
