ADTTA would like to thank everyone who competed in the North Confined Championships, which took place on May 3rd 2026 at Aberdeen Sports Village. We particularly appreciated and welcomed the support of those who travelled from further afield to compete and hope they enjoyed their day.
There was some fantastic table tennis on display over the ten events with closely fought battles throughout. Full results can be found by following the link to the event on Stadium.
Stadium TT (North Confined 2026)
Congratulations go to all the winners, in particular Dean Robertson who collected a hat trick of titles including the prestigious Rubber Shop Trophy following a high quality final against Jakub Krzyzostaniak. He followed this up by winning the U19s, with Jakub again having to settle for second place, while in the U15s Dean defeated Victor Chen in a close final.
There were a few upsets in the early stages of the AU Shield with only 2 of the top rated players reaching the semis. James Tait was delighted to beat top seed Dennis Oon in the first semi while Mark Brown saw off the challenge of Inniyan Jayaraj. In the final Mark recorded a comfortable straight sets win over James.
Results in the group stages of the Watt Cup went more or less as predicted and, with few upsets in the knockout stages, the final was an all Shetland encounter with young Connor Burgess taking on Joan Smith. A battle royal ensued with Connor eventually winning 3-2 to claim the Watt Cup trophy.
Joan had a busy day, reaching the final of the Over 60s with a 3-2 victory over George Main, where she came up against defending champion Mitch Reid who defeated top seed Andy Keith in the other semi. In another tense battle it was Joan who took the title 12-10 in the deciding end – just finishing in time to catch her flight home!
The final of the Over 40s saw club mates Ikenna Asogwa and Gregor Ksiazek face each other for the title having dispatched Elgin’s Sebastian Malecki and Manmeet Randhawa respectively. Ikenna was in dominant form taking the title in straight sets.
The Over 19 to Under 40 event proved to be extremely competitive with some great matches for spectators to enjoy. Dominic Weston, who plays in Elgin and Inverness when not away on army duty, caused a few upsets, not least when he defeated Kiishi Adekola in the main singles competition. Dominic beat Joe Abbott in the first semi while Vaibhav Narula ousted Edmund Lau 3-2 in the second. The final was a fascinating encounter with Dominic taking a two set lead before Vaibhav fought back to level the match. A tight deciding end eventually saw Dominic come through 11-9 to take the title.
Finally, we had a small group of youngsters competing for the Bert Park Trophy in the U13 event which was won by Rory Winter with Paris Enoch runner up.
