Kiishi Adekola
Table tennis wasn’t Kiishi’s first sport. From a very young age, she was an active, sporty child who was happy to try anything. Gymnastics, dance, tennis and football all had their turn before table tennis came along.
Her table tennis journey began at age 8, when her dad introduced her to the sport. She took to it just as naturally as she had everything else, but it wasn’t long before coaches noticed something more – raw talent, paired with a real determination to learn and improve. She threw herself into every training session and competition, and what started as fun quickly grew into a genuine passion.
As her love for the sport deepened, so did her commitment. At the time, Kiishi was also a valued member of Aberdeen FC Ladies, but she made the tough decision to step away from football to focus fully on table tennis. Since then, she has dedicated countless hours to training around school, regularly travelling across Scotland, the UK and Europe to compete against stronger opposition. That hard work and perseverance paid off, carrying her through the national pathway and earning her selection to represent Scotland at international competitions.
A major milestone came at the 2026 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships in New Delhi, India, where she made her senior international debut for Scotland. Competing against some of the best players in the Commonwealth, Kiishi delivered a series of impressive performances, gaining invaluable experience and proving she belongs on the international stage.
Kiishi has now been invited to train full-time with the Great Britain Performance Squad in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity that will see her training alongside some of Britain’s top players and coaches as she continues to sharpen her game. With the support of her family and coaches, Kiishi is excited for this next chapter and looks forward to seeing where the sport takes her as an ambassador for table tennis in Scotland.
